League City Mayor Nick Long honored United States Marine Corps veteran Jerry Clark with a special proclamation, officially declaring April 8th, 2025, as Jerry Clark Day. The recognition comes in celebration of Clark’s decades-long dedication to veterans and his receipt of the DAR Medal of Honor, the highest civilian award given by the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).

The prestigious DAR organization, known for promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and ensuring a bright future for the nation, selected Clark for his unwavering commitment to community service and veteran support.

A Vietnam veteran himself, Clark is the founder of Transition Plus, a peer support network created in response to alarming veteran suicide statistics published in a 2012 government report. At the time, the report revealed that between 17 to 21 U.S. veterans were dying by suicide each day. Clark responded with action—launching a space for healing, connection, and purpose for those struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder.

Since its founding, Transition Plus has held weekly meetings in partnership with Bay Harbor United Methodist Church, serving more than 400 veterans with confidential and compassionate support. Incredibly, the group has reported zero suicides among its members over the last 13 years.

Clark’s work hasn’t gone unnoticed. Transition Plus received the Trailblazer Award in 2013 from the Gulf Coast Center of Galveston, followed by recognition as the Military Veteran Support Group of the Year in 2014.

Mayor Long’s proclamation serves as a heartfelt acknowledgment of Jerry Clark’s enduring leadership, compassion, and tireless advocacy for fellow veterans.
